Mental Health First Aid Training- Adults


Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Mental Health First Aid is offered in the form of an 8 hour course that presents an overview of mental illness and substance use disorders in the U.S. and introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments. Those who take the 8-hour course learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

Target Audience: primary care professionals, employers and business leaders, faith communities, school personnel and educators, state police and corrections officers, nursing home staff, mental health authorities, state policymakers, volunteers, young people, families and the general public

There are no CEUs being awarded for this event. Participants will receive MHFA Certification.

Refunds/Cancellations: Canceled registrations more than two weeks before the activity will be refunded less a 20% service charge. Cancellations less than two weeks before the program will be invoiced or a substitute is permitted. If registering less than two weeks before the program, the fee is due in full and substitution is permitted. Registered no-shows will be billed.

Inclement Weather Policy: In case of inclement weather, the Coalition will make a decision whether to delay or cancel a webinar or training by 7 am the morning of the event. If a delay or cancellation will occur, the Coalition home page (www.olderpa.org) will be updated to reflect this, and a message will be saved to 717-857-3163.
