Target Audience: This training is for all interested individuals and specifically those who provide care to older adults, such as nurses, social workers, case managers, housing service coordinators, nursing home administrators, personal care home administrators, aging and mental health workers.

Lunch will be on your own;  Bring your own, or there is a hospital cafeteria located on the ground floor or Java City Cafe is off of the lobby.  

Directions to Training Room: Off Baltimore Pike, turn onto the campus road that says toward Riddle Village. Continue straight, going past Riddle Village and past Thrift shop. Go around back of Thrift shop to the Administrative Annex where there is a parking lot. The far door is Conference Room 1 in which the training will be held. CEUs: Program approved for 4 hours of Nursing, Case Management, PCH Administrators, and Social work. Participants must attend the entire session for credit. Partial credit cannot be awarded.

CEU's may incur extra fee.

Objectives:
At the completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

§  Discuss the common psychiatric causes of problem behaviors in individuals with dementia:

§  Delirium

§  Depression

§  Anxiety

§  Behavioral and psychological
   symptoms of dementia

§  Articulate the risks of depression for those
   who are providing care for individuals with
   dementia.

§  Review common treatment interventions that
   may be used with individuals who are
   suffering from dementia including
   communication skills, behavioral
   management, and psychosocial
   interventions.

§  Identify evidence-based practices for
   psychiatric issues of dementia.

§  Explore community resources available for
   professionals and family caregivers.
