Older adult opioid addiction, often complicated with alcohol, has skyrocketed; yet prolonged opioid use exacerbates chronic pain. Participants will learn about dimensional addiction treatment for individuals over 50 with chronic pain, be able to describe the generational and co-morbidity aspects of Boomer.

Opioid addiction, and apply practical tools in Boomer and older adult assessment and engagement in the recovery process and growth. This session informs the topic with facts and generational, evidence-based treatment approaches that include ways in which older adults engage in their own treatment, chronic pain management and recover.

Both CEUs for nursing and social work from the National Association of Social Work - PA have been approved for this training.  Participants must attend the entire session for credit. Partial credit can not be awarded. 

CEU's may incur extra fee.

Facilitator: Logan Dougherty

Logan graduated from Tusculum College with a BA in Clinical Psychology. In addition to his Clinical Psychology degree, he is Nationally Certified through IFPA as a Health Specialist. Logan’s health specialist certification specializes in health, wellness, nutrition, exercise and motivation. Working in the mental health field since 2004, his experience encompasses employment in residential treatment facilities, community and school based mental health services, outpatient and intensive outpatient for substance abuse. Logan’s specialties include knowledge of trauma, psychological determinism, ego defenses mechanisms, emotional/psychology needs, rational emotive behavioral therapy, reality-testing, free association and overall wellness, which include psychological, physical and spiritual factors.

Inclement Weather Policy: In case of inclement weather, the Coalition will make a decision whether to delay or cancel a webinar or training by 7 am the morning of the event.
